Unfortunately, there are a lot of scammers out there. They call (again and again). They send mail, texts, and email. Some even show up at your door.
These scammers are tricky, so sometimes it can be hard to tell fact from fiction. Here are some red flags to watch out for, courtesy of Medicare:
“Free” offers that seem too good to be true. Scammers may offer gifts, groceries, medical equipment, or in-home services. They may ask for your Medicare number or try to trick you into signing up for services. Don’t fall for it!Suspicious calls or messages about Medicare. Scammers say things like: “You need to activate your Medicare card,” “Medicare authorized us to send you a free brace,” or “You qualify for a Medicare refund.” Never share your Medicare number or your HealthTeam Advantage member ID number with anyone except your providers.
