Ever set a health goal that you are just not meeting? That is likely true for many of us at some point. Never fear, it is not too late — it’s about progress, not perfection. Remember that! Having some strategies in your “toolbox” can help set you up for success on your journey toward a healthy lifestyle.
Plan Ahead
Thinking through your options and making a solid, realistic plan can go a long way in making the best use of your time.
Have Someone/Something You Can Be Accountable To
Choose someone you can confide in about your goals and ask them for support along the way. Use journaling to keep track of your progress. You can even use technology to find a support chat group that may help keep you motivated.
Do Not Reinvent the Wheel
Utilize technology to help try different exercise videos, count steps, track progress, and track meals. Apps can help with reading those pesky food labels as well.
Reward Yourself
Set up small, realistic goals along your health journey and set a reward system when you reach a goal.
Remember to change your goals when you hit different milestones, and keep in mind that we all have good days and not-so-good days. Do not give up, just keep moving forward!
